The Gift

13 Aug 2013: The Gift is a movie about Charlie, who has Cerebral Palsy, wants to lose his virginity for his birthday by hiring a prostitute who comes to his home. The story looks at how his parents and brother deal with this confrontational issue.

The issue of wanting to experience all in life, including sex, as a person with a disability.

Where young men would normally go to a brothel to experience this, his parents cannot put their head in the sand and pretend this isn't happening as it is happening right under their noses, in their house.

I guess the other issue that comes up is whether you ask your son to wait for a real relationship to happen to lose their virginity in (which may never happen), or to accept that he is going to lose his virginity with a prostitute in a meaningless encounter.
