Can-Do-Ability: Answers and Solutions from my personal experiences of living with a disability

Hi Daddy

12 Feb 2014A little girl, Kate, who has Autism was travelling with her mum who placed Kate in the middle seat so that she would not annoy people opening and closing the window shutter. The down side to sitting Kate in the middle seat was that she would want to interact with the person that sat next to her.

Kate's mother prayed that the seat would stay empty but instead a business man sat next to Kate.

To Kate's mother's surprise the man gave Kate his attention and interacted with her. Kate trusted him so much that she called him ‘Daddy'.

How awesome that this man could see past himself and his importance and talk to Kate. Not only did he make Kate's day, but also her mother's too.

Next time you are stuck next to someone ‘different' smile, say ‘hi' and be nice, you never know what you might get in return!

God Bless that man. I was in the supermarket and noticed a lady with an autistic child who was screaming and shouting all over the place. Every one was tutting and moaning about the noise. I pointed out to them that they only have to tolerate this for a short time. The mother has this situation 24/7. I am a special needs teacher!!
