The trains are on the improve
28 Jul 2014:
Last week I had to travel by train. It was the first train ride I had been on since last year. When the train pulled up there was already a difference in that alternate carriages were marked with disabled stickers on the doors.
The train attendant put down the ramp and I rolled in. once in the carriage I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were spaces allocated for my wheelchair, where the seat swung up and I could park my chair neatly in the carriage and have a grab rail nearby to hold on to.
In the past I have just had to sit in the carriage where ever and I have felt ‘in the way'. I have been tripped over, hit in the head with bags as people squeezed by, etc.
I was very appreciative of the improvement even though my return train home was back to the old ways.
