Thank Goodness For Credit Cards
21 Oct 2011:
Now we're down to 20 days until the wedding, three weeks and I can't believe it! It feels like we've been planning this day forever. Well, the planning did begin almost 18 months ago, which I suppose is a long time.
Last weekend, Todd and I had our second meeting with our reception venue, just to finalize the running times for everything. Of course, while we were there, we went to check out our ceremony location again, and the weather was absolutely perfect! I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed that the weather fairies will turn on a beautiful day for us on the 11th as well...
So, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, I woke up in a panic, wondering how we were going to have enough money to pay for everything we have left to pay for, before the wedding day. Going through it all in my head in my sleepy state, I came to the conclusion that between now and the wedding, we weren't going to get enough pays to be able to finalize everything! I even woke Todd up to try and get some reassurance.
Does this mean the wedding will have to be postponed until we see another pay day? Of course not! In this fabulous day and age of credit cards, all it means is that I had to increase my credit limit on my MasterCard so we could cover it all, but not to worry, because I'll be lowering it as soon as our lives get back to normal after the wedding.
Tomorrow I am going to see my wedding train (for the back of my wheelchair) and to pick up the girls bridesmaids dresses, that have been altered, which I can't wait for, because then I can tick off some more things from my extremely organised (but not organised enough for me) to do list. And if the train is all good and I'm happy with it, I'll also be able to collect my dress as well!
I also received an interesting phone call today, ‘twas from the hotel that the bridal party and I are staying at the night before the wedding... When my room was booked, we requested a late check out for as LATE as possible. Check out is at 10am, and our wedding ceremony doesn't begin until 2:30pm, and we stupidly didn't think to book somewhere two days in a row so we wouldn't have had to leave in a rush. And unfortunately, everything is completely booked out now.
But, I went to the hotel a few months back to have a look at the place in person, which is beautiful by the way, and just to confirm that we could get a late check out. The helpful lady at the front desk was so nice, and she took me up to the room so I could see inside, and assured me that I could check out by 1pm, free of charge. Although 1pm is still a bit early, it was incredibly generous of them to do, especially since they weren't charging any extra, so I happily accepted it.
So anyway, back to the phone call, someone from the hotel called me and said that one of the house keepers of the hotel had written in the notes for my room ‘no late check outs', but she wasn't there today to see if any allowances could be made for my group. However, she will be back in tomorrow, so now I have to sit here nervously, waiting to see if the bridal party and I will have to get kicked out at 10am...... Think positive thoughts, think positive thoughts, think positive thoughts! I will not be a happy bride-y if we have to leave early, but I will keep you all up to date on what's happening, and I know it will all work out in the end.
Well, I will be signing off again, for another glorious weekend, as my count-down clock reads 20 days, 22 hours and 38 minutes! Eeeeehhhhh!!! *claps hands frantically and squeals in a high pitched girly voice* Stay tuned and I'll talk to you all next week.
