Can-Do-Ability: Answers and Solutions from my personal experiences of living with a disability

Marvel-lous Wheelchairs

4 Mar 2010On the 9th February, I went to Wheelchair Sales at Moorebank in Sydney to check out a brand new wheelchair fresh in from Canada called Marvel Wheelchairs. Wheelchair Sales are the first Australian distributors of this amazing style of light-weight chair.

It is going to revolutionise the way wheelchair users get about. With suspension usually reserved for mountain bikes, this chair can travel over rough terrain and up and down steps as smoothly as silk!

This chair also has the capability to pull apart for easy travel and storage with just a few button presses.

The Marvel Wheelchair has been designed so it can be adapted to suit it's user as they change, the chair can be widened, made deeper, higher or lower at the back, have different wheels attached for trekking, have the foot-plate moved, and loads more, all this with a few turns of an allen key.

You can see the chair in action on the video I've put together when I interviewed John from Wheelchair Sales.

I also borrowed some footage of the creators Jeff and Christian, using the chair, in a way that shows off its suspension at its best in a not so recommended way, by jumping off a huge rock, (something I could never imagine having the guts to do!)

For more information about the chair, visit www.marvelwheelchairs.com or www.wheelchairsales.com.au or email me and I'll be happy to find out anything you need to know!
