MLC Kelly Vincent
10 Dec 2013:
Whilst researching blog ideas I have from time to time come across Kelly Vincent giving her view on certain issues and I have to say that I am really impressed by her holistic approach to how she addresses issues.
Kelly Vincent is the Dignity for Disability Party's representative in South Australian Parliament.
Kelly is the youngest woman, at the age of 25, currently sitting in an Australian parliament and the first Australian to be elected on the platform of disability rights.
Recently Kelly has gone to the US to see the important changes being made in New York and San Francisco for and by people with disabilities. These changes have included small housing modifications, improved restaurant access and job assistance.
Kelly plans to bring some of these ideas to South Australia and have the Lord Mayor in Adelaide implement some of these strategies that are working in the US.
I think we need a Kelly Vincent in each state of Australia representing us.
