900 Alternative Learning Programs
20 Oct 2014:
I was listening to the radio while I was out and about and I heard an interview on the topic of alternative learning.
I am a big advocate of online learning as well as other alternative ideas. As a person with a disability who not only has mobility issues, but also issues with fatigue and being unable to write and take notes. I am excited and delighted with alternative learning programs.
I was fortunate enough to do an Advanced Diploma in Counselling by attending class 3 days every 10 weeks and doing the rest of the work at home with a partner or in a small group, then emailing my answers. This setup worked perfectly for me.
While I was studying my Higher School Certificate many moons ago, there were no alternative programs to suit my needs and so I ended up dropping out of high school half way through year 11. Had I been offered to study half the subjects at a time I may have stayed at school.
A couple of years later I did Tertiary Preparation Certificate (Higher School Certificate alternative) at TAFE and did really well.
